Vol. 11, No. 17 Sept. 10 - 23, 1998

By Jules Ira Rubenstein

We asked people on Bedford Park Boulevard:

"Which candidates will you support in the primary and general elections for governor and U.S. Senator?"

"For governor, I know it's going to be Vallone. He wants to keep the Yankees in the Bronx. This is what real people are really about. So I think that kind of logic is going to carry through to other decisions he's going to make."

Paul Evans

"I'm interested in Mark Green [for senator]. He's really doing a lot. For governor, Pataki. There hasn't really been anyone better that could prove they could do better, so I'm just staying with Pataki for now."

Kuroy King

"I'm going to support the Republicans. I'm a registered Democrat, but I don't like what they're putting up. Our mayor has done a great job -- the best mayor New York City has ever had. It switched me over."

James Griffin

"I haven't made up my mind yet. I should think about it -- the 15th is coming up. I guess I would lean more towards Green [for senator]. Geraldine [Ferarro] has been out of action for quite a few years. She's lost her touch."

Faith Cristiano

"I'm voting for the Republican Party -- with everything that's going on with the Democratic Party, and President Clinton."

Gysela Pacheco
