Center's First Thanksgiving

By JORDAN MOSS

Though a few remaining technical issues have prevented Bedford Park seniors from occupying the brand new senior center that has been mostly complete for over a year, the center hosted its first Thanksgiving dinner last week.

Over 80 seniors were served turkey and all the trimmings by staff and volunteers, said Patricia Burlace, director of the center, which was named the Sister Annunciata Bethell Senior Center, after its founder. The Center is currently located at the Bedford Park Congregational Church. Disputes among the contractors and subcontractors have led to long delays. But only one remaining issue, concerning electrical wiring connected to the HVAC system, needs to be resolved before the seniors can move permanently to the new facility.

“The priority is to get everyone in here and start to utilize the facility,” Burlace said.
