INQUIRING PHOTOGRAPHER

By JULES IRA RUBENSTEIN

We asked readers if they thought that the new Democratic
Congress could be effective or if there will be gridlock as they
face off against President Bush.

Right now, we’re kind of at a standstill. Maybe the change will be progressive, and that might be exactly what we need. My only big concern right now is the war. I don’t think anybody really knows what’s going on over there.

Ashley Gries

I think they’ll all work together. They will accomplish things. I’m optimistic. They’re not going to end the war right away, but maybe they’ll start the process.

Barry Axelrod

President Bush sounded very conciliatory with his meetings regarding the Democrats. Hopefully, they’ll be able to change some laws; they’ll be able to figure out a way to bring home our armed forces. I’m hoping they’ll be an effective legislature. I’m hoping they will work together.

Connie Sakell

I hope the issues could be tackled – ASAP, without lots of deliberation – and get to the issues that really matter the most to us.

Danny Rodriguez

I’m hoping that “non-partisanship” will lead to better things, but I really doubt it. There will be a conflict of interest, yes.
