INQUIRING PHOTOGRAPHER

By JULES IRA RUBENSTEIN

We asked readers if, at the second anniversary of the 9-11 terrorist attacks, they feel our nation is safer and stronger.

"I don't think we're safer. I think we're weaker because we're stretched thinner. We've carried out an unnecessary and ill-conceived invasion of Iraq, which stretches our military forces extremely thin."

Tom Phillips

"I think Americans and New Yorkers have banded together and there's a stronger sense of
community. But I don't think the government has done the same. A lot of the measures
they've taken have done more to increase our insecurity."

Jamie Joe

"I was at the World Trade Towers when the first plane struck. I believe that Bush is doing a good job and that the nation is more secure. We're finally showing our strength to the world against  terrorism."

Geroge Gancarz

"As New Yorkers, we're closer together. When we had the blackout, it wasn't as bad as in 1977. There was a lot more love, and I felt that the World Trade Center had a lot to do with it. But I think the government is still weak."

Veronica Star

"We're more alert now, and we know that we're not invincible. We've shown other countries that when there are terrorists involved, go out and get them. I think we're much  stronger, because now we know what can hurt us and what can't."
