INQUIRING PHOTOGRAPHER

By JULES IRA RUBENSTEIN

We asked readers if they thought that protesters should be allowed to use Central Park during the Republican National Convention.

"They should absolutely be given a permit to assemble wherever is appropriate. I don't
understand why it's a security issue for something that is not even right next to the
convention."

Sharis Ingram

"They should be allowed to demonstrate at Central Park. I don't see them doing a lot of
damage, as they've promised to be peaceful."

Dawn Rivera

"Everybody has a right to freedom of speech, and I don't think that there's going to be
major damage to Central Park. I think it all comes down to money, and that [the mayor]
doesn't want to spend the money."

Luis DeJesus

"They have the right to use the park, but the mayor is right in terms of the destruction of
parks. But they could work something out. They have done concerts there before, so they
should be allowed to demonstrate in the park."

Victor Vasquez

"People have had other [events] there that thousands of people have been to. I think that
everybody should have the equal opportunity to use the park for whatever reasons."

Charlotte Rivera
