INQUIRING PHOTOGRAPHER

By JULES IRA RUBENSTEIN

We asked readers what they thought of President Bush's refusal to meet with Cindy Sheehan, mother of a Marine who  was killed in Iraq, during her encampment outside Bush's Texas Ranch

“He should have met with the lady … to express his sorrow or feelings. She lost her only son.”

Akwasi Yeboah

“I don’t know what he’s going to say to her, but he should go out and hold her. Just give her a hug. He’s responsible.”

Bill Downes

“I understand his stance about not wanting to meet with her, because it may set a precedent that everybody who has a grievance would stand in front of his door. But this is America, we have the right to protest.”

Antoinetta Grillo

“The President is dodging the issues. If it were his kids out there fighting for this land, he would want to know what was going on. At least, give her five minutes of his time.”

Sam Constanza

“He should have the common courtesy, even if it’s five minutes, to answer some of the questions. Maybe he’s not able to answer them all — because none of us can answer them all.”

Elizabeth Montgomery
