t. Ann's Roman Catholic Church celebrated its 75th anniversary with a special Mass last Friday, which drew a standing-room crowd of old and new parishioners.

St. Ann's was founded in 1927 by Fr. Martin Cavanagh, who got the church started in an auditorium at Montefiore Hospital.

The Mass featured a number of special guests, including Fr. William Kelliher of St. Joseph's in Bronxville, who attended St. Ann's School as a child, and Bishop Patrick Ahearn.

After the Mass, 335 people attended a dinner at the Villa Barone in the east Bronx.

"There was so much joy and so many reminiscences that it was really [most] unforgettable night of the past 25 years," said Monsignor Robert Trainor, who this month celebrates 10 years of being pastor at St. Ann's.
