I love it! And it’s great for the whole wide
world. And Americans will learn how to play. Because now I’m an
American and I love that Americans will win, in the future. [Note:
The Americans disappointed this World Cup — tying once, losing twice
and failing to make it out of the first round group stage.]

I’m watching [Germany and Switzerland]. Ghana
[is] going to get a Cup. I’m from Ghana – born in Ghana. I’m a
former player. [Note: Ghana defeated the U.S. 2-1 to surprisingly
advance to the next round where they lost to Brazil on Tuesday.]

I’ve been a big fan since I was 9 years old. I’ve
played the game in Colombia. It’s been [growing] since Pele was here
with the [NY] Cosmos teams. It’s getting bigger and bigger. The US
is doing a good job playing the game. [Note: The U.S. had its best
showing ever when it made it to the quarterfinals in 2002.]

I was following it when the U.S. was there. I
didn’t expect too much because there’s so many good teams in the world.
Right now, I have friends from Australia, so I’m rooting for Australia..
[Note: Underdog Australia (the Socceroos) barely lost to Italy, 1-0, in
the round of 16 on Monday]

I’m following the World Cup for the first time,
because I see how it brings people together. You realize it’s a
worldly thing. I think Brazil is a team that has it pretty much
together, as well as Germany. [Note: Host Germany plays Argentina in
the quarterfinals and is on a collision course to play Brazil in the
final.]
