INQUIRING PHOTOGRAPHER

By JULES IRA RUBENSTEIN

We asked readers for their thoughts on the passing of former President Ronald Reagan.

"It was during his tenure as president that Dr. Martin Luther Kings holiday became
official. That's when he sort of motivated people to think about themselves. I have very
good memories of him."

Yvette Swanston

"He was a good president, even though he didn't work with some groups. He didn't cover
ground much with the Latino community. He was a good president, he made a lot of
changes."

Pedro Perez

"I crossed party lines when Mr. Reagan was running for president. I liked his policies and
his visions. I became a Republican after that. He had good, conservative insights. The
welfare reforms have certainly helped."

Mario Ponte

"His acting ability made him so cheerful, and we needed [it] so badly. He gave us spirit
and hope and faith."

Mildred Gilliamsen

"I was indebted to him because he kept us at peace for eight years. He got the economy
moving again and broke down the Berlin Wall. I always admired him as a great
communicator."
