INQUIRING PHOTOGRAPHER

By JULES IRA RUBENSTEIN

We asked readers what they thought of President Bush's push to renew the Patriot Act, which some  critics say restricts civil liberties.

“George Bush is doing the right thing about terrorism. It should be renewed.”

Ensor Vasquez

“I think it’s gone too far. It’s been stereotyping people … from Asia, Afghanistan and other Muslims. I don’t think it’s been that effective.”

Cecilia Walters

“They should bring it back because it will probably help us. Right now, nobody’s safe. The thing is, [terrorists] are going to do what they want to do anyway. They don’t really care what we feel.”

Frederick Mendes

“I think the Patriot Act goes way too far. I don’t see how it protects us from terrorists, and I do know that it takes away rights from ordinary, good citizens.”

Eva Yachnes

“The laws are getting too strict, and it affects all of us. I believe they should make changes, but not to be so strict. Eventually, it affects everybody.”

Hector Reyes
