INQUIRING PHOTOGRAPHER

By JULES IRA RUBENSTEIN

We asked readers what they thought of Mayor Bloomberg's proposal to hold non-partisan mayoral elections.

"I appreciate what he's trying to achieve by doing that, but I think without party ties for
people to identify candidates, there could be problems."

Karen Sprowles

"I never really take party into consideration as it is, so it doesn't affect how I would choose
my candidates. By erasing the boundaries it allows us to look at candidates as individuals."

Courtney Dornbusch

"It could be beneficial that people don't have to go the 'party line.' On the other hand,
Bloomberg may be looking for more widespread support . . . because [the city] is
traditionally democratic."

Lauren Tucker
Cross

"It's ridiculous because when you're electing your candidate, you have to know what he
stands for. If it's non-partisan, you don't know what he stands for. We need to know these
things."

Tayo Rigaud

"We should have two parties. I don't think you can identify candidates with one party. It would confuse me."

Julio Roldan
