INQUIRING PHOTOGRAPHER

By JULES IRA RUBENSTEIN

After the Yankees acquired Alex Rodriguez for a huge contract, we asked readers what they thought of a Boston Red Sox proposal for a salary cap.

"I think there should be a salary cap. The Yankees basically buy their championships."

Bonaris Serrano

"I coached college sports for 12 years, and you want to have an even playing field. If you
have all of the best, it's not really a sport anymore. A salary cap would make the game more competitive."

Bob Lupo

"You play to win, so you do what you have to do. The Red Sox should mind their own
business. They're just jealous."

Omaris Maldonado

"Part of me says that that's the way it goes withNewYork and George Steinbrenner. But a salary cap is a good thing, as it makes a level playing field."

Doug Russell

"I think Boston's just jealous. Teams like the Yankees have the money, so why not use
it? The Red Sox owner was just too cheap."
