INQUIRING PHOTOGRAPHER

By JULES IRA RUBENSTEIN

We asked readers if they agreed with a City Council proposal to ban cell phones in public performance venues.

"I believe that cell phones should be banned for the good of the performance community, the audience and the performers. To me, it's common sense."

Vincenza Dante

"I've been disturbed many times--in both movies and theatres--especially when you're paying high ticket prices. You don't want to have people talking; you don't want to have beepers going off. It's a quality of life issue."

Luciano Guerriero

"I think it's good in case of an emergency to have the phone. My granddaughter is 22 and she goes out with one. It's in case she needs her mother--that's how I think of it."

Gloria Turrell

"I don't think they should stop them--provided that people use their cell phone properly. If you keep it on vibrate, it's your own business. I'll still use my cell phone if they ban them, I'll just take the call outside."

Mark O'Brien

"It's a good idea,in a way, but nowadays phones have vibrators, so it really doesn't disturb people when it rings."

Edward Rivera
