INQUIRING PHOTOGRAPHER

By Jules Ira Rubenstein

We asked Van Cortlandt Village readers what they thought about President Bush's cabinet appointees, some of whom have been the subject of controversy.

"This Ashcroft guy I have very negative feelings on. He's too far right as far as I'm concerned. On the other hand, I like the Colin Powell appointment. I think he should have received a government post long before this."

Allan Orenge

"The one he is appointing now, Senator Ashcroft, I'm very disappointed in. His track record is not good."

Mildred Blitz

"[I don't like] the appointment of the governor of New Jersey for environmental consultant. I don't feel she's qualified."

Joseph Scheck

"I think he's made good choices. It seems like it's rather varied and it seems like people who are honest and will try to be fair, and I'm satisfied with it."

Bob Weinheimer

"I think he made his choices before he even made his choices. He's basically a conservative Republican. Nothing he says would surprise me."

Betty Garcus
