Public Meeting on Armory Nov. 19
By HEATHER HADDON
On Wednesday, Nov. 19, Borough President Adolfo Carrion will host a public meeting to
discuss community ideas for developing the Kingsbridge Armory. From 9 to 11 a.m., the
public will finally get to voice their preferences and concerns for the redevelopment of
the vacant structure.
"We felt it was important that the public had an opportunity to comment," said Arlene
Mukoko, a spokeswoman for Carrion. The borough president's office called for the
meeting and members of the Economic Development Corporation -- the city agency
overseeing the project -- will be in attendance.
The city will issue an RFP (request for proposals) this fall for bidders to develop the
armory. Local politicians and city officials held a closed-door meeting earlier this month
to voice their own preferences for the project and many of them prioritized including
public schools in the redevelopment.
Mukoko said that, to her knowledge, this would be the last meeting on the armory before
the RFP is drafted.
The public meeting will be held at the Bronx Overall Economic Development
Corporation (BOEDC) office, located at 198 E. 161st Street (Suite 201).
For more information, call the borough president's office at (718) 590-3500.
