Our Heroes: A Free Hiring Fair for Veterans. Thursday, September
10, 2015 - 8:30am to 1:00pm, Transitioning Service
Members, and Military Spouses. A Workshop will be held for
job seekers that focuses on resume writing, tips for
successfully navigating hiring fairs, military skill
translation, and interviewing. The Brunch and Learn
presentation for employers focuses on best
practices for recruiting, hiring, and retaining veterans and

Bronx Food &
Farm Tours 2015
will feature an
Italian Culinary Tour on September 5th.
We will begin
at the Ruth Rea Howell Family Garden at The New York
Botanical Garden for a walk through the Global Gardens and
vegetable plots with cultural themes. Next up, at historic
Arthur Avenue, an Italian culinary gem, we’ll learn about
cheese-making at Mike’s Deli. Finally, we’ll drop in on the
annual, citywide Harvest Festival for community gardeners,
this year at the Garden of Life and Health.

these tropical herbs, while a chef from Wave Hill exclusive
caterer Great Performances demonstrates various ways to cook
with fresh and dried members of this aromatic plant family.
This is the next-to-last of our “Matter of Roots” series of
cooking demonstrations, focusing on earthy vegetables, both
humble and exotic.
