HIV Testing Counselor –
Asian & Pacifica Islander
Coalition on HIV/AIDS (APICHA)
APICHA’s mission is to
combat HIV/AIDS stigma and
related discrimination, to
prevent the spread of the
HIV/AIDS pandemic in A&PI
communities, and to provide
care and treatment for A&PIs
living with HIV/AIDS and
their families.
Duties and
Responsibilities include:
* Provides HIV and STD
screening in accordance with
NYC Public Health
Regulations and the agency
protocol at the agency and
in the field
* Provides phlebotomy
services to patients as
appropriate (conventional
blood draws)
* Facilitates and track
referrals for services
provided
* Provide risk reduction
counseling and education
* Recruit clients
* Act as an interpreter
during HIV or other
screenings and risk
assessment when needed
* and other
responsibilities.
Qualifications:
* Education: Bachelors
degree in human services or
equivalent experience in
related field is required.
* Completion of NY State
Certified HIV testing
counselor training
preferred. Applicants
without certification will
be required to obtain
certification as soon as
possible after hired
* Phlebotomy Certificate
preferred. Applicants
without certification will
be required to obtain
certification as soon as
possible after hired
* Familiarity of API issues
that impacts risk taking
behaviors
* Fluency in at least one
Asian language is preferred
* and other requirements.
