Major
Responsibilities
•
Manage
and
oversee
the
operation
of
the
Edgar
Allen
Poe
Visitor
Center
•
Inspect
and
take
appropriate
action
to
maintain
the
facility
•
Open,
close
and
ensure
security
of
the
facility
and
its
contents
•
Develop
and
administer
a
variety
of
public
programs
related
to
Edgar
Allen
Poe,
his
works
and
his
life
in
the
Bronx.
•
Book
programs
for
groups
and
maintain
calendar
of
events
•
Evaluate
programs;
keep
accurate
records
and
written
reports
•
Serve
as
liaison
with
community
groups,
local
organizations
and
schools
•
Work
closely
with
Borough
management,
Recreation
and
Partnership
for
Parks
staff
to
generate
public
interest
in
and
use
of
the
Visitor
Center.
Preferred
Qualifications
•
Bachelor’s
degree
•
Excellent
communication
and
administrative
skills
•
Background
in
arts/poetry/literature
•
Two
years
of
work
experience
planning
and
delivering
cultural
programs
•
Ability
to
program
and
schedule
a
visitor
center
facility
•
Bilingual
English/Spanish
•
Available
to
work
evenings
and
weekends |
This is a
seasonal
position,
running until
January, 2013.
