Grants and Database Manager
in New York Office – Part
Time
Legal Action Center (LAC) is
seeking a part time Grants
and Database Manager (GM) to
manage the administration of
the Center’s government
contracts and foundation
grants. The GM will be
responsible for managing
contract and grant
applications and reporting,
including maintaining and
ensuring the completeness
and accuracy of a
centralized database that is
a critical information
resource for grant/contract
compliance. The GM will
report to the VP/CFO for
Administration and will work
closely with the Legal
Director and Deputy Legal
Director. The position
requires approximately 15
hours per week.
Responsibilities:
• Work with program and
administrative staff to
generate monthly, quarterly
and annual grant/contract
reports related to
deliverables, statistics,
demographics, etc.;
• Coordinate grant/contract
applications and renewals,
working alongside Project
Directors. GM will prepare
and write some components of
these documents. Project
Directors and fiscal
personnel will write and
prepare others; and
• Manage LAC database that
tracks all grants/contracts
and includes extensive
information about legal
services, trainings and
other grant-funded work.
Also manage
contract-specific databases:

o Create and implement
quality assurance protocols;
o Work with outside database
consultant to modify
database to accommodate
changing grant requirements
and management needs;
o Ensure that procedures are
in place for program staff
to collect and input
necessary data, train staff
to use these procedures, and
monitor their ongoing
functionality. This will
entail interaction with
program and administrative
staff at all levels.

Qualifications:
• Three to five years of
grants and/or database
management experience or the
equivalent education and
experience
• Demonstrated expertise
with Excel and database
operation, especially Access
• Proven ability to
establish administrative
systems and work with staff
to ensure their
functionality
• Ability to manage multiple
projects
• Demonstrated problem
solving, time management,
and organizational skills
• Excellent written and oral
communication and analytical
skills
• Demonstrated interpersonal
skills, including the
ability to collaborate
effectively with a team and
motivate others
